| | File extension.... .wps, .txt, .doc and .pdf....what's up with all those? | | My HP computer came with a word processing program called Microsoft Works. It does word processing, spread sheets etc. The file extension is .wpsI have been posting my husbands resume on job search sites and they ask for a copy of the resume.. and often don't offer cut and paste option, but specifically ask for it to be uploaded and require only the extensions .doc, .txt and .pdf.I know pdf is Adobe Reader and I know that txt is (at least on my PC) the extention if you just use Notepad, but...what is .doc extension from? How do I do a resume in PDF with Adobe to be uploaded? If I upload from my Notepad with the .txt extension, does it go through okay, jsut doing it like that..I use the browswer button, find the resume document and click on open and it puts that url of the resume in the box. I assume it goes through okay, but have no way of knowing. I didn't know Notepad was that proper to use for saving documents and such. Also, .wps extension...that is in Works, NOT Word. So if I am keeping all my personal documents in .wps format/extension...if I put things on a flash drive to use at another PC...if that PC doesn't have... | |
| | myLot, aaaargh! LOL. | | Has anyone ever become frustrated with myLot? I can definitely say, I have.:-)It seems as though almost every time I am right in the middle of adding my input in a post that something happens and I have to start all the way from scratch. I am not having connection problems, so that is not the issue.:-) Have any of you ever had an experience with myLot that seemed to disturb you?:-) | |
| | | Wow! I Just Learned Something New~~Duh | | I was responding to a discussion how even though one might be a good speller, there are always a few pesky words that one always seems to misspell. Well I was reading through the other responders to the discussion and just learned something. Now I don't know if Internet Explorer has this feature, but whenever you spell a word wrong and you're using Firefox, which I do, the misspelled word is underlined in red. Okay THAT I knew. What I didn't know was this. If you catch a word that is underlined in red, meaning misspelled, if you click on the word and right click a dialog box crops up with the right spellingWell I have a Mac computer...our mouse is left click only...to do any of the right clicking type methods, one has to know which key to press and left click. So I gave is a shot. I purposely misspelled a word...clicked Control and left clicked, and holy moly, sure enough a dialog box cropped up with the right spelling...not only that, but when you click on the right spelling of the word in the dialog box, it automatically corrects the word in the sentence!Like duh? I DIDN'T KNOW THIS!Okay please tell me I'm not the only one to just discover this feature...did you know... | |
| | Like a damn fool, I loaded... | | Like a damn fool I loaded Microsoft Works Suite 2002. I tried to exclude Money 2002. But it kept trying to load it anyway. I have done everything short of a format of my hard drives to try and rid myself of this obnoxious program. This would be one of those times where I would like to find the developers and tear them apart with a pair of needle nose pliers.I have deleted every part of the Microsoft Works that I can find. I keep getting a message about some shared DLL or something. How can I rid my computer of this worthless crap? | |
