. Point-of-sale advertising can encourage teens to try smoking. Comment please
The more cigarette marketing teens are exposed to in retail stores, the more likely they are to smoke, researchers reported on Monday in a US study they said supports even tighter restrictions on tobacco ads. Point-of-sale advertising can encourage teens to try smoking, the team reported in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

I found a back door to a popular website
Hi members, I found a back door to a popular website, theprofitcenter.cc/3003.html This page allows you to get one of the highest selling websites in internet history at half off. They even have a payment plan. I found something I had paid $19.95 for that was included free with this package.
three- dimensional tvs!!!!
I have been hearing alot about three dimensional TV sets for quite a while now. its seems like everytime i look on one of my gadget sites, some big company or small company or small compnay that promises that it will be big has some television set or monitor that can achieve what every geek wants: 3d images. the latest development is a 20-inch LCD from philips. viewers would see stunning 3D commericials based on 3D animations and video. it looks as if Philips intends to use its product for point-of-sale advertising. in other words something to attrast customers attention. it seems like a waste dont you think? i mean everyone wants 3d viewing. if the technology is there let us use it. the problem is, our current systems of filming is set up for 2-D. im not certain how this will work without 3D glasses but hey what do you guys and girls think?
iphone craze hit you too?
There is currently an iphone craze in singapore. you can call it the second wave, since the first wave happened a while ago when it was first introduced and only one service provider could sell it.now the second service provider (and third i think) are also allowed to sell it together with their phone subscription packages. so the island is going crazy again. I heard that the call helplines for those two companies are jam packed and people are being put on hold.lately, almost every other person i see on the streets is clutching an iphone. even the clerical staff in my office who are not paid highly have one! i am amazed because it carries quite a high monthly subscription even though it is 'free' at point of sale. what do you think of the iphone craze? did it hit you or your locale?
It was one of those calls..
I got one of those telemarketer type calls this morning. Normally I'd just hang up on them or set the phone down and let them chatter at the silence. But I was a bit more complacent this morning, apparently, and when asked if I (by name) was home I took the dive and said 'ya got him'. As it happened they were selling car insurance and I asked the salesperson why they wanted to talk to me. As salespeople do she assured me that I was indeed the person they needed to talk to and proceeded into a rather lengthy spiel..another thing salespeople do..And when she finally came up for air I again asked if she was sure she needed speak to me. In answer she asked if I was confident with my car insurance coverage..In answer I said, 'Darlin', I don't drive..haven't had a license since the early 70's..' She finally got the point..no sale/no way! Have you ever had similar 'encounters'?
How do credit cards work
Unlike the olden days, you do not have to carry large sums of money when you go shopping. All you need to do is take your card with you while shopping, select whatever you want to buy, hand over your card to the cashier to make the payment and walk out with your purchase. So simple, isn't it? When you hand over your card to the cashier to pay for your purchases he takes it and swipes it in the merchant's point of sale (POS) system. This system is connected to the merchant's bank via a communication link. This POS system helps in verifying your data by using an electronic verification system. The details verified include the validity of your card and the availability of sufficient balance on your card to pay for the purchases. This data is available on the magnetic strip, present at the back of the card.Once your details are transmitted to the merchant's bank, they are sent to your bank which then authorises the payment if all the details are in order. This authorisation is then sent to the merchant's bank, which then blocks the amount from your credit limit so as to reimburse it to the merchant later on.The authorisation generates an approval code and is...
What I learned from traveling in Italy, saving money, etc.
Saving money, staying safe, etc., traveling in Europe When we were investigating for our trip to Italy this past summer, we looked into ways to save money. Here are a few that I learned that helped us and others that we did do but may be of help to you.1. Hotels are expensive. Renting apartments or villas, and even Bed and Breakfast is a lot cheaper. If you like camping, they do have campgrounds, too, and that is the cheapest of all. There are also hostels where you rent a bed rather than a room. It all depends on your comfort level. I liked renting apartments because we had a kitchen and saved a lot by eating breakfast and other meals in the apartment and making lunch and meals to carry.2. Search for some budget hotels. They are out there, maybe off the beaten track. We found, renting an apartment in Rome, not to stay near the main part but over by the Vatican was cheaper and we still had public transportation to get us everywhere, or cabs, too. Walking to many places (we were right near the Vatican and could walk there) was good, too.3. Many hotels will allow you to pay a small amount to add extra beds. If you can do that, you will save money. We still preferred...
Can you save money without cutting back?
Right now, times are difficult financially for most of us so for me personally saving is more important than ever. I have always been very conservative with money and "saved for a rainy day" so to speak. Even though I'm on a limited budget, I still take a certain amount from each cheque I receive, and put it into a savings account. My bank also offers a program where they will round up any debit point of sale purchases I make, and deposits the cents rounded up directly into my saving accout as well, this means that my $5.35 lunch get rounded up to $6.00 and the difference of 65ยข will be deposited into my savings account. This type of program allows me to save while I spend without cutting back or excluding things. What about you, what do you do to save money? Do you have any hints, tips or tricks that you use to save so that you do not feel you're taking anything away from yourself? What about store rebate programs and points programs? Do you think they're helpful or a waste of time?If you have any thoughts on how to save money please share, I know I need to learn any tips I can. Thanks
