| Anyone use a Voice recognition software? Vist Voice vs Dragin Naturally Speaking | | For those writers out there that get tired of typing after a while or for anyone who likes to chat without typing, do you use a voice recognition software? Anyone who has Vista on their computer already has Vista Voice and all you need is a headset with a microphone. I just recently got my headset for my Vista Voice but am thinking of getting the Dragon Naturally Speaking software because I heard it works much better. Does anyone use Vista Voice for writing or chatting or do you use the Dragon Naturally Speaking software instead? If so which do you like better?I am having a hard time getting used to the Vista Voice. It works with wordpad pretty well but I am used to writing with MS works word processor because it has a word count. But when I tried to use the vista voice with the MS works word processor you have to say one sentence at a time until a box pops up and you have to click on the sentence you want to use. I don't like having to do that because it takes longer. I am trying to get used to using the wordpad but I like knowing how many words I am writing while I write them. I guess what I could do is talk the story or article out... | |

| | Does anyone use voice recognition software, because struggle with a keyboard? | | I get back pain pretty bad and using the keyboard for long periods, makes arms and shoulders ache. Someone recommended that I try out voice recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking. If anyone out there uses it on a regular basis, I'd love to hear how you're finding it. For those than don't know, voice recognition software works via speaking into a headset which is in connected to your computer, and it types what you say. | |

| voice recognition software | | I am writing this post using voice recognition software. It is my first try with it and it is is making some mistakes but it is sure a lot quicker than typing. The program I am using shareware and I have a thirty day free trial. I've only been using it for about ten minutes and I am already hooked. If anyone is interested I will post the URL that I used to download it. As I said in a shareware and I have a thirty day free trial. is only cost ten dollars to register so it is definitely affordable. WOW, this is kind of fun | |
| | Recommend good voice recognition software? | | For various physical reasons, it's getting harder to type. A few years ago, I tried Dragon Naturally Speaking but it just wasn't accurate enough. Does anyone know if it's better these days? Or is there another that's good? Three sentences and I have to rest my hands. Not a good thing for a writer of novels like myself. It feels like I'm still working on an old fashioned typewriter, even though I have this great laptop computer.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

| Do you speech to Text or Voice Recognition Software to write for you? | | Over the years I have used many different voice to text (speech recognition programs) and many text to speech programs as well.I've noticed that these programs are getting much better lately and I've also noticed that I'm doing a lot more typing on MyLot and wondering if anyone else has taken an interest in these programs or if they use them regularly for their discussion forum or blogging efforts to communicate with others around the world. If so I'd be interested to know, If you use themIf yes, what is your setup with software, computer, headsets, microphones, sound cards, the works!I'm looking to upgrade my computer and sound card and looking for some feedback.I'm interested in Dragon Naturally speaking on the VR side. I do podcasting with Audacity and a Tapco Mix100 board and a dynamic microphone. What do you do and how do you do it???? Thanks Brett | |
| | Have you ever used Voice Recognition software? | | I remember installing a copy of Viavoice 98 that came free with a computer magazine several years ago. The set up for the microphone was quite simple, but it took a lifetime to configure the software, which involved reading about 200 pages aloud to familiarise the program with my manner of speech.
Once the program was set up properly it was time to test it. I launched Microsoft Outlook and sent an email to my brother without the mouse or keyboard, which I thought was very impressive. I never used the program much and never reinstalled it when I reinstalled Windows.
Since the software I tried is now 8 years old, I wondered if anyone had used it since and how different it is now.

| Does anyone use voice recognition software? | | I have used Dragon Speak Naturally and now use the program that came with Windows XP. My mic is broke and I can't use it now and it's driving me nuts!! It is so handy to "talk and type". | |
